Feel the history of the Tokyo Olympics! "Komazawa Olympic Park"
Hi! I'm Izumi, a photo spot explorer.
This time, I visited a spot with a large tower in Komazawa Olympic Park in Tokyo.
Komazawa Olympic Park was used as a venue for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964.
It's a great place for a relaxing walk or cycling, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
In this article, I'll introduce a photogenic spot in Komazawa Olympic Park that's perfect for a sunny day!
Let's Take a Stroll in Komazawa Park and Head to the Central Plaza
The nearest station to Komazawa Park is Komazawa-daigaku Station.
This time, I'll introduce the route from the park's west entrance.
It's about a 12-minute walk from the station to the park's west entrance.
From the west entrance, it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the central plaza.
Along the way, you can enjoy watching people skateboarding and playing sports in the fields, or simply relaxing on benches.
Arriving at the Central Plaza!
When you arrive at the central plaza, you'll be greeted by a vast open space.
On either side of the plaza, there are athletic fields and sports grounds where you often see students practicing for competitions or club activities.
The plaza is also used for food events like Gyoza Fests and Dried Noodle Fests, so depending on when you visit, you might enjoy various events.
In the plaza, there's a mysterious tower that looks like an art object.
This tower was used as a control tower during the 1964 Olympics.
To the right of the tower, there's also the Olympic cauldron used at that time.
Let's Take Some Photos in the Plaza!
The central plaza of Komazawa Park is perfect for photos on a sunny day with its wide-open sky!
First, try taking a front-facing shot with the control tower as the main subject. Here's how the photo might look.
Next, using a wide-angle lens to capture the plaza and the blue sky together is also recommended.
The contrast between the spacious plaza and the sky creates a beautiful and liberating photo.
You can also have fun taking zoom shots from afar.
Using zoom emphasizes the tower standing alone in the wide space, creating a nostalgic atmosphere.
Nearby Specialty Coffee Shop "ONIBUS COFFEE"
About a 10-minute walk from the central plaza of Komazawa Park, you'll find the nice coffee shop "ONIBUS COFFEE Yakumo".
Here, you can enjoy delicious coffee while choosing beans from regions like Colombia, Ethiopia, and Kenya.
This time, I had the Colombian iced coffee.
The refreshing iced coffee on a hot day was perfect after a walk!
If you want to feel the history of the Tokyo Olympics, be sure to visit here!
This time, I introduced the Olympic Memorial Tower in the central plaza of Komazawa Olympic Park.
Komazawa Park is also perfect for relaxation.
If this spot caught your interest, make sure to visit with your camera!
